A small family-run shop on Maple Street

Whisker & Wag is a family-run grooming salon in a small storefront on a walkable main street in Asheville. There are two of us behind the clippers, and that is on purpose. We wanted a place where the music stays soft, the door opens onto the sidewalk, and the groomer working on your dog or cat is the same person who remembers that she hates the dryer or that he needs a minute before nails.

It is warm here rather than clinical. Grooming is a small appointment in your week and a big one in your pet's, so we try to make it feel like visiting people who know them.

Two groomers, one pet at a time

We could fit more animals in the day if we ran two tables at once and kept a row of crates in the back. We decided not to. Only one dog or cat is in the shop at a time, there are no cages, and nobody sits waiting in a loud room listening to other dogs.
